👏👏well done man. I thought at first EM's move was both premeditated and savvy, since he must have known he would get beat bad in the EU elections and had to call elections in the fall. Better to use the rebound momentum. Less sure now with NFP, but they may also have been inevitable, and only better organized come Oct. Question for you: why is it assumed PM under RN would be Bardella and not LePen?
Thanks dude! It’s a long held “superstition” in France that the role of PM is a cursed one. No real leeway except implementing the President’s mandate and if they fail, they would most likely be scapegoated to the public (main example is Chirac with Mitterand and Fillon with Sarkozy)
PM is really a thankless job, and Marine Le Pen wouldn’t want to burn herself before the presidency in 3 years. So she’ll put forward Jordan Bardella as a candidate for 2 reasons:
1- for him to acquire experience in governance ahead of the 2027 elections (he’s never held a government position before, and perhaps even a proper job ever)
2- Be at loggerheads with Macron for 3 years, blocking any bill that he might want to put forward in parliament while she reaps the rewards politically
Expect bad faith dealings and political deadlock between all camps over the next 3 years
